The Education Gap

During the 2023–2024 school year, more than a quarter of public school leaders reported that a severe lack of one-on-one instruction between students and teachers had a negative impact on learning. Wealthier students, who have access to private tutoring, outperform their peers by nearly 98%, leaving Black and Hispanic students — who rely more heavily on public schools — at a significant disadvantage.

This widening gap is fueled by the lack of affordable, teacher-driven personalized tutoring for underprivileged students. As a result, many young minds with the potential to shape our future are being held back.

Why Current Solutions Fall Short

Existing platforms like Quizlet, Khan Academy, and ChatGPT:

  • Depend heavily on command-line style interfaces.

  • Are often overpriced for schools.

  • Have limited content capabilities.

  • Deliver low personalization that doesn’t adapt to the way teachers actually teach.

Even after surveying 160+ teachers, the overwhelming majority agreed that a true personalized AI tutor is still missing from the educational landscape.

How Mentora Solves It

Mentora was built to fill this critical gap. By combining AI with teacher control, we provide:

  • A platform that adopts the teacher’s learning style.

  • AI modules trained on lectures, presentations, textbooks, and class readings.

  • One-on-one tutoring where students get responses based only on teacher-approved content.

  • A scalable, affordable solution that ensures no student is left behind.

With Mentora, we’re not just providing another educational tool. We’re offering a platform that revolutionizes how students learn when teachers can’t be there.
